Running for a position on the Board of Education in Frederick County was something I felt led to do.

 

I will be running on three key points where I believe more focus could be given to support the work already being done in FCPS by the teachers, staff and board for the best possible educational experience for our students and parents!

 

Community is a vital component in schools. I feel that this is something that has been struggling for a long time throughout the country and Frederick County is no different. Creating more opportunities to build that community within the school building and giving parents and students more chances to get involved will help us all play an active and supporting role in our children’s future. As a member of the Board, I will make it my mission to listen to and be an active participant with the PTSA throughout Frederick County. Their work to create these opportunities for students, parents, teachers, and staff are important.

Academics should be the main focus. It is imperative that our children are given the highest level of academic education while they are attending FCPS. There are policies and regulations written to help hold each school and all the educators accountable and I will review these policies to be sure our children are receiving only academics. I will be here to listen to parents and students should any situations arise regarding these issues. Whether they are virtual or in-person, our
role as educators is to provide the same academic opportunities for all students without imposing our own beliefs. That being said, FCPS has amazing teachers that are committed to providing the academic experience that we as parents are expecting. I will also be here for teachers and staff as they follow through with this mission.

Our children’s safety is always of the utmost importance. This topic encompasses many different levels of safety. From following proper protocol with weather threats, to their physical wellbeing and emotional health, I will be delving deep
into the current policies and regulations to ensure that we always have their best care at the forefront.

There are many different subjects in society that do not belong in the minds of our children. If we truly are to teach

these children academics, allowing them to be children and to see the world they way children do must be valued. Imposing our views and beliefs is not necessary nor wanted by the parents. It also adds more to hard working staff and teachers’ plates.

 

I am running for the Frederick County Board of Education to listen AND be a voice for the students, parents, teachers

and staff as we continue to improve and work hard towards the best possible future for all.
